Environmental Action Team

In 2021, protecting the environment became an official focus area for The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Classic City Rotary has a long connection with environmental and sustainability projects, such as tree planting at JJ Harris Elementary School, picking up trash on our Adopt-a-Mile, recycling Christmas trees, and enhancing local landscapes. In 2022, Classic City Rotarians initiated an Environmental Action Team focused on sustainability and environmental issues, open both to club members and non-Rotarians interested in learning more on these issues.

The Environmental Action Team meets regularly on zoom to explore issues and solutions both locally and world-wide, and has sponsored community “EN-ROADS” presentations, a weekend trip to the Okefenokee Swamp, visits to the local Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), multiple club presentations on environmental topics, and more.
