Speakers
One benefit of being part of Classic City Rotary is our great speakers and presentations at weekly club meetings. These programs, which usually are the final half-hour of each meeting, feature informative and entertaining presentations on a range of local and international topics – usually in person, but sometimes national and international speakers will join by Zoom.
Whether it’s getting updates on the issues from our local elected and appointed officials; hearing from UGA faculty experts on topics from kaolin to “murder hornets” to Georgia politics; growing our awareness of local businesses and non-profits; hosting K-12 essay contest winners; learning to make origami hats; deepening understanding of Rotary’s international humanitarian work; or having a string quartet or local songwriter perform just for us–our meetings help “Make Mondays Matter.”

About Us
Classic City Rotary (formally, the Rotary Club of the Classic City of Athens) is a member-driven service organization in Athens, Georgia. Part of Rotary International, District 6910, Classic City Rotary meets weekly for fellowship, lunch, and learning on most Mondays, from noon to 1 PM at Epting Catering, 1430 N. Chase Street in Athens, Georgia. We support humanitarian, educational, environmental, and arts-oriented causes locally and globally, with regular hands-on service opportunities as well as financial support. Classic City Rotary is the creator and sponsor of the Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year awards.
Classic City Rotary is proud to be the home club of 2022-23 Rotary District Governor Gerry Taylor and 2026-2027 Rotary District Governor Paul Matthews.

Service Above Self
At Classic City Rotary, we put Service Above Self. We are a passionate group of community leaders dedicated to making a lasting impact—both right here in Athens and around the world. Through annual financial grants and hands-on volunteerism, our members spearhead over 30 service initiatives every year. You’ll find us fighting hunger by preparing and serving meals with Our Daily Bread, protecting the environment through "adopted mile" cleanups, and mulching at local nonprofits. We take pride in connecting generations and supporting neighbors, whether we are hosting events for kids at JJ Harris Elementary and seniors at Denney Tower, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, or assembling welcome baskets for international UGA students.
