Congratulations to Mariah Parker (Linqua Franqa) for being recognized with the 2018 Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award for her 2017 song, The Con & The Can!

The award, which carries a $1,000 prize, is named in honor of Vic Chesnutt, an internationally renowned singer-songwriter from Athens, and is presented by the Rotary Club of the Classic City of Athens.

The finalists and other great musicians perform at the awards event. Finalists receive complimentary studio recording time, courtesy of Japanski Recording Studio and Nuci's Space.

The inaugural Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year debuted in 2017, with Andrew Huang as the first winner! Other finalists for their 2016 songwriting were Drew Albenesius, Dana Downs, Erin Lovett, and Sarah Zúñiga.

The third annual Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award will be presented at an event held at The Foundry in May 2019. Nominations will open in January 2019 for songs released during 2018.
